Peter Grant annual award – Burak Özyurt

Burak Özyurt has been recently appreciated with the Peter Grant award for the best student-led paper for “Mobility management in multi-tier LiFi networks”, published in IEEE Journal of Optical Communications and Networking.

In each year, the Institute for Digital Communications (IDCOM), The University of Edinburgh announces the Peter Grant annual award scheme for best student-led publication. The award, £200, is announced in September of each academic year following the recommendation of a committee of IDCOM and external members. The criteria are originality and novelty of the contribution, and the journal’s/event’s academic standing (e.g. impact factor, acceptance rate). Each student is eligible to apply for the award at any academic year provided their entry has been accepted for publication. By “student-led” mean a paper where you have done the most part, not only in doing the numerics and/or experiments but also you have contributed significantly in developing the method and wrote a substantial part of the script.

Peter Grant is an  Emeritus Regius Professor at The University of Edinburgh who was awarded the 82nd (2004) Faraday Medal by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)  for his outstanding contributions to signal processing.
