European Researchers’ Night: Palermo

Internet of Lights

The Sustainable Development Goals are the model to follow to have a better future, adopted by all United Nations member states in 2015 as a universal call to action to end the poverty, inequality, climate change and ad other problems and to protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. These objectives are 17, and ENLIGHT’EM is interconnected with Goal nº9 “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure”.

The objective of ENLIGHT’EM is to develop technological solutions to transmit data using LEDs!

Access to the Internet on the move and the ability to connect multiple objects wirelessly (in ‘wireless’ mode) is now a consolidated reality. But is it possible to use light too, instead of radio communications such as WiFi or LTE?

A group of young European researchers is working together as part of the MSCA ENLIGHTEM project to create low-energy communication solutions based on light, suitable for new applications of augmented reality and communications between vehicles.
