1st Prize of the EIT Jumstarter awarded!
Dayrene Frometa has participated with a team from IMDEA Networks in the EIT Jumstarter program as part of her project activities. During the 8 month-long program, the team worked in finding and validating innovative ideas to draw up a business model to create a startup called LiFi4Food. They received training on the lean start-up methodology from Silicon Valley translated to the European Environment, and learnt about how to refine the deal, market segmentation, customer value proposition, financials, investment and legal basics.
Lifi4Food applies LiFi technology to connect battery-free sensors to the Internet, providing sustainable solutions for precision agriculture. The team qualified to the Grand Final 2022, that took place in Kraków (Poland) on the 29-Nov. During the Grand Final, teams of all Europe presented their business ideas at a live event, after which the jury picked the winners. Dayrene’s team won the 1st Prize in the Food Category, and will be granted 10.000 € dedicated to the purpose of creating the startup. The experience and the training of ENLIGHT’EM have been pivotal to reach such a milestone.
EIT Jumpstarter is a programme to create a sustainable impact in the Central-Eastern and Southern-European Regions by boosting innovation and entrepreneurship within this part of Europe. It is a selective, competitive program for the earliest-stage start-ups, which have not funded a company yet, and often have only an idea.
